Depending on how you've built your vault, you might need to increase your power storage though, but, then an extra lvl 1 generator room, even if you're not going to use it actively for a while, is a much less dangerous way of getting that extra storage (plus some extra free energy every login if you put at least one dweller in it). The need for more power exists partly because you've upgraded your rooms, so that problem pretty much solves itself.

If you've not upgraded the rooms, that's very easy to do without putting yourself into danger. If you're not playing on Survival Mode, you can also rush those rooms a few times to get additional stuff. On the positive side, they don't take any more HP or radiation damage while they are returning home. Instead, just focus on a few, and give them the best equipment that you have.

Sending out too many badly equipped and untrained dwellers is just a drain of resources. If you feel you need to upgrade your science lab and your med bay, then that's probably a sign that you're sending out too many low-hp people who chew through too many stimpaks.
